Well here goes my post about all the Vday gifts *drags and drops a photoshop file to the trash bin*. I’ve been extremely busy with my work lately so I haven’t had the time to blog as much, for which I am deeply sorry. Wishing everyone an amazing and heart warming Vday. If you are not celebrating with a lover, you can still celebrate with with a loved one, a friend or a relative. Instead of having a fancy dinner and a drink, spread the love to the animal and homeless shelters. Here is a great youtube video on that *Click Here*.

You are loved!

In the coldest of seasons don’t try to look for warmth from clothes or places, open your heart and allow passionate people to enter your life.

Yay! Today I received my 1st Julep Maven box.  When I took Julep’s online quiz  I it turned out that I am “American Beauty”, based on this style all of my shelf pools will be made for the next months. The colours that I got this time are Alfre and Cameron. Alfre is a subtle purple with grey undertones with a metallic finish, I LOVE IT & planning to wear it year round. Cameron is a very vivid and bright matte pink, this would be my summer only colour as I prefer subtle colours as year round choices. My package also included some flyers, welcome letter and a scrub for hands which I am yet to try. So far so good :)

After I graduated from high school I found out that my grade 12 math teacher passed from prostate cancer. He was 32 years old, a lot of girls in our school had a crush on him, he was a kind person, and died 7 days after he was diagnosed because the cancer spread too fast. November is a men’s health awareness month in Canada also known as Movember. Why Movember? The name comes from moustache + November, men sign up to an online charity and grow out their moustaches for the entire month.

A loved man is a healthy man. I think that all of us can participate in Movember by appreciating the men that we have in our lives right now - our boyfriends, brothers, fathers, grand dads, and husbands. And how do we appreciate? Usually with gifts and surprises, bought or handmade. Sometimes I find it difficult coming up with gifts for guys so I made a list:

1. Breakfast - In bed or on the table it is a sentimental gesture. If you like to sleep in you can make the breakfast and write a note on a card then go back to sleep.
2. Perfume - Smell perfume that he already has and pick one with a similar scent. If you are not good at scents, write down perfume that he has and look up online key ingredients, then find a perfume with similar stuff. My favourite: Canali’s Summer Night $60
3. Hand cream - A good hand cream goes a long way, men get dry skin too especially in winter time. My favourite: Hemp hand protector by Body shop $20
4. Wallet - I find that my boyfriend wears out his wallet every year, I am sure other men aren’t that different. So wallet should be a great gift. Make sure that the wallet colour will match the colour of his wardrobe and personality. My favourite: Roots wallet $100
5. Hat - Great gift for fall and winter to keep your loved ones ears warm. My favourite: Zara hat $15-25
6. Love note - Write a love or appreciation note and put it into his bag, laptop case or wallet.
7. Shaving kit - They all need one :) My favourite -  Baxter’s shaving kit $25-40
8. Razor - Necessity. My favourite - Vintage looking razors compatible with Gillette  razors by D.R. Harris $200
9. Massage - everyone loves it. Depending on your budget you can get a certificate to a spa or a massage bar. My favourite: Lush’s massage bars $10
10. Balloons - Decorating his room or study with balloons is a cute idea with a sure guarantee to bring a smile to his face. Grown ups don’t get balloons as often anymore so it is has a built in element of surprise.

With Halloween coming up there are a lot of MUA tutorials out there. I decided to join in the fun and make one of my own. The look which I did is inspired by “Dio de los muertos”, Mexican Day of the dead. Also it is a spin on my last year’s costume (I will link an image once I find it). Hope you like it…

Review:  e.l.f.

Recently I became obsessed with online shopping. After watching numerous makeup tutorials on youtube I ran into a brief review of e.l.f.’s “Beauty School Palette Vol. 1”. It seemed to me like an amazing and cheap option (it costs only $5) to my ultimate craving of Urban Decay’s “Naked Palette” which costs 10 times more - $50. So I ordered it & today it has arrived. Yay!

Nice e.l.f. people added a small surprise to my shipment - a free full size “Hypershine Gloss” in Berry Cherry. Which is the perfect nude for me (update: I now wear it every single day). The eyeshadow palette is gorgeous, well pigmented and all colours are as good as I hoped (they are VERY true to colour). The mattes are a bit chalky, but I don’t mind as I did pay $5 after all. And I got a lot more than I have hoped for, which is great.

*Swatches above reflect some of the shadows, and my lips before and after I applied the gloss. My skin is very fair with red/pink undertone.

Hope you liked my 1st purchase review :)
